Mistakes which you should never do in India Post Finacle
We are all humans and we are all prone to make mistakes. Making
mistakes is the essence of life. But in reality we should avoid making
mistakes. Be it in our day to day life activities or while doing transactions
in finacle counters. As we said in our book Pineapple, every mistake we do in finacle has a
solution except for excess deposits or double deposits in RD. It’s true, we
have worked hard in the counter, we made a lot of mistakes in the counter and
we have found out various solutions all by ourselves. But, as the old saying
goes, prevention is better than cure. Its better we avoid making mistakes. Here
we will discuss 8 important mistakes which we should never do, of course there
is a solution for all these but its better avoid doing these mistakes.

1) Never close the browser window without
logging out.
Never close the browser without logging out, Nor we should use the
browser back button or the refresh button. It seems silly but if we close the
browser or use the browser back button or refresh the page, our work will be
halted for at least 15-30 minutes. We will tell you why it happens. Whenever
you login into finacle a SESSION is created at the server. The session will be
alive as long as you are doing transactions in finacle. When you logout of the
system the session will be closed at the server. Server will allow you to login
only when the previous session which was created while your previous login is
closed. If you close the browser without properly logging out, the session will
not be closed at server. Since session is not closed at server, it will not
allow you login again. This is a security measure. If one person is already
logged in, then other person cannot login with same user id and password. It’s
a great feature from finacle unfortunately the most cursed feature. Sometimes
session automatically logs us out. This is another security feature. Finacle
will automatically log you out after 15 minutes of inactivity. So don't leave
the screen unattended, at least move the mouse once on the finacle screen.
That's enough. Now, don't say that yours is a single handed SO and only one
system is available how can I all things at once. If you want to go home early
follow these simple tips.
2) Never do any
transaction in Supervisor login
Its obvious yar, supervisor login is for verification of
transactions and for doing some higher responsibility transactions only. Not
for deposits, withdrawals, account openings and stuff, which should be done in
counter PA login.
3) Do not use
complicated passwords
Yes do not use complicated passwords. Because if we enter our
password wrong for 3 times finacle will lock our user id. We will not be able
to login again until our user id reset is done by CPC. This is security
feature. Most of us very enthusiastically use very complicated password like
")($@A2585" "S@ty@7897878". Do you think such tough
passwords are required? NO! Just use normal passwords but which cannot be
guessed by others. And don't forget your passwords. If you do, your work will
be halted for at least 30 mins.
4) System could not get
response from server
As we have already told you about this error in our book Pineapple,
this is the worst enemy at counters for us. If you are continuously getting
this error in counters, it’s better to stop working until such time finacle is
fully functional again. If you get this error after clicking SUBMIT button
while account opening, 99% the account will be opened. Sometimes system will
remain in the same screen after clicking the submit button instead of showing
the screen with new account number. DO NOT CLICK THE SUBMIT BUTTON AGAIN AND
AGAIN. The number of time you click the SUBMIT button that many new accounts
will be opened. So be very careful when you are getting this error repeatedly.
5) No multiple CIFs for
same customer
If any customer comes to your office to open a new account, do not
directly create a CIF and open the account. First we have to verify and satisfy
ourselves that the customer has no CIF in post offices. Only after verifying we
have to create a new CIF. To search if the customer has a CIF, we have to use
CDEDUP menu. Try all options in that menu and find out if the customer already
has a CIF in your office or any other office. If the customer already has CIF
in your office, then modify it and use it to open the new account. If the
customer already has a CIF in other PO, DO NOT MODIFY IT, You can directly open
the account. We should not modify CIFs of other offices. We should only modify
the CIFs of our own office customers. If customer has multiple CIFs we cannot
track the MIS/SCSS limits. If you find multiple CIFs for same person we have to
suspend all the extra CIFs using CMRC menu.
6) Do not forget
HCASHPND transaction after cash closures.
After doing cash closures for RD/MIS/TD/SCSS etc schemes we will
give cash to customers. But that amount of cash will be deducted from our
Teller cash only after doing HCASHPND transaction. After closing of account and
verification do the following steps to completer HCASHPND transaction.
1. Invoke HCASHPND in counter pa login.
2. Choose Function as Process
3. Click on GO
4. Choose the transaction by clicking on the Sl No ( ex. 00001,
00002 )
5. Click on Post
6. Note down the Transaction ID and verify the same in supervisor
login using HTM menu.
Only after doing this steps, give cash to the customer. Your
teller cash also will be tallied with physical cash.
7) Do not forget to
verify transactions
This is most basic thing. Don't forget to verify the transactions.
The best practice is to verify every transaction immediately after doing the
transaction in the counter. We regularly visit CPC to meet our friends and see
that in many offices people are not verifying transaction even after 6 or 7
hours after doing transactions. THIS IS WRONG. If you don't want to go home
early its ok, verify the transactions and sleep in the office. But if you don't
verify your transactions in time our friends in CPC cannot go home. Many of
them are staying late at offices even up to 3 am in the midnight. Please have
mercy on them and verify all transactions at least within 1 hour after doing transaction.
Not only CPC guys, actually why anyone should stay late at offices. Are you
getting extra salary for staying late? No! Then why stay late at offices? The
problem is your approach to working in finacle is wrong. We will soon post a

8) Do not share your
password
This is again a security measure. Do not share your passwords with
anyone. If any misappropriations take place without your knowledge nobody can
save you. If you are going on deputations or leave, inform the CPC well in
advance and take new id passwords for the reliever. But in no case give your id
password to anyone.
So these are 8 mistakes you should avoid doing. All these mistakes
